I have so much leftover Stampin' Up! Designer Series paper that is retired from last year, that I used it to create these which I sold at craft fairs recently. You can use any of Stampin' Up!'s D.S. papers (Wintergreen would be great) or the Prints Designer Papers on page 173 in Blue Bayou would work for blue shades, wrapping paper (from the recently expired Holiday Mini Collection) or purchase Stampin 'Up!'s plain white wrapping paper which is available in the current Fall-Winter Collection and stamp your own designs. (all products are from Stampin' Up!)
Stamps: Holiday & Wishes (Happy New Year), Holiday Blitz (Snowflake & Menorah & David's Star)
Cardstock: Shimmery White, Bordering Blue
Ink: Brocade Blue, Versamark pad
Accessories: Designer Series papers, SNAIL Adhesive, Heat & Stick Powder, Iridescent Ice Embossing Power, Heat Gun, Sticky Strip, Star Punch, 1/16" circle punch, Tag Corner punch, Open End Whisper White Small Envelopes (for treat gift)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR Origami tree:
1.CUT 4 pieces Designer Series Paper per tree into squares as follows: 3x3, 2 1/2 x 2 1/2, 2x2, 1 1/2 x 1 1/2
2. FOLD each piece (use bone folder on score lines):
- fold in 1/2
- open up
- fold diagonally
- open up
- fold diagonally the other way
- open up and lay flat
- fold in the triangle sections (that have scored folds) in towards each other; you will see two triangles (without folds) forming-fold until the two triangles fold on top of each other, so looking at it you see one triangle.
- this is the tricky part-holding the paper so the triangle has one point at the top, fold each side in to meet in the middle, creating one new point. If you look at the photo, you will see what you end up with.
- Repeat all above steps with all the paper squares
3. Working your way from top to bottom, start with the second smallest paper and insert the tip into the little "pocket" fold of the smallest paper. Repeat with the others. Attach adhesive to hold together or use sticky strip. Punch and attach a star (for New Year treat) and cut a rectangle for tree trunk from a shiny wrapping paper or other designer paper (for Hanukkah treat use Star of David stamp). Attach tree and star to cardfront.
For Candy Bar: cut 3x3 pieces of foil paper and cover each end. Cut white or blue cardstock to 5x5 1/2 so when the bar is wrapped, the ends show. I used sticky strip to hold the paper onto the candy bar. I used 1.55 oz Hershey's Milk Chocolate bars.
To Make Happy New Year Tag:
1. Stamp Happy New Year and snowflake onto cardstock that has been cut into a rectangle with Brocade Blue ink. Press versamark pad onto paper until covered with ink. Pour Heat & Stick powder over entire tag, shake off excess then heat set just until glue is wet.(don't overheat or glue will disappear). Cover tag with Embossing Powder, tap off excess and heat set.
2. Layer onto blue cardstock cut 1/8" larger all around. Use tag corner punch on two corners. Punch hole and insert long piece of ribbon or cord so when tied, you can twist it around candy bar on two opposites corners.
To Make Happy Hanukkah Tag:
1. Fold any size cardstock you wish in half. Stamp Menorah with blue ink. I hand wrote Happy Hanukkah on the inside. Punch a hole, insert long piece of ribbon or cord so when tied, you can twist it around candy bar on two opposite corners.
